Latest News

I'm going to be doing some updates here about latest news or just some interesting things I've been up to.

I will keep it as an archive so please scroll down to see where I've been and and what we have all been up to.   It's a varied and exciting life being a face painter and artist and I couldn't wish for a better job.

If I haven't put an update on in a while then please feel free to email me and ask what I've been up to.

NEWS

February 2025

Well the days are starting to show signs of getting a little longer (even though it's still freezing) so better weather will hopefully be with us soon.  After a few weeks catching up with paperwork and restocking there are signs of things picking up as usual.  January is always a quiet month and when you first start in this business you can panic that it's so slow but many years of experience has taught us that things gather pace throughout February and keep going! This week we have had some requests from our regular corporate clients for summer events and can't wait to join in the fun again there.

January 2025

After a busy December we were certainly ready for the break - although personally I could have done without the traffic on the M25 trying to get to Brighton and back, but it was well worth the visit.

January and early February are generally a quieter time for face painters as everyone recovers from the excess over the festive period.  I like to spend the extra free time sorting out paperwork (Tax needs to be done and every year I say I will do it earlier and every January I end up sorting through a years worth of paperwork to do my HMRC submission), reviewing contracts to see if any amendments should be made, re-stocking kit (and trying not to buy too many new pretties) and sorting out old brushes.

It's also a time to look at design options and perhaps do some research to revamp favourites and practice new designs that we feel may be popular in the coming year - looking at the films due to be released can be a useful heads up for requests.

There is a lot of work behind the scenes that goes in to each and every one of our events and this time of year is a good time to do as much prep as we can so we can make everything we do special for our clients.

Fun Fact: We often get a lot of enquiries in early January for summer the following year (2026) due to weddings being planned after festive proposals.

December 2024

We are now well and truly into the Christmas season.  Our first event was the Morpeth Christmas Lights switch on and what a great afternoon we had.  4 painters working flat out for 4.5 hours and folk patiently waiting 45 minutes in our line.  The atmosphere was great (it stayed dry for us too!) and everyone was in such a good mood we really enjoyed it.  Trying to get all our kit out through the crowds as they waited for the button to be pressed was an interesting experience but it kicked the festive season off wonderfully.

This month sees lots of excited children at many Christmas parties and we do bump into Santa quite a bit at these events too - people forget what a busy month he has leading up to the big world tour on Christmas Eve.

Probably the most popular designs this year are Reindeer and the Grinch but Snowman is running a close third at them moment.  If I remember I will update you in January what the top 3 designs were.

We are still doing birthday parties as well as these never stop.  I know some parents with children who's birthdays are close to Christmas wait until January to have their parties for a number of reasons.  I understand this, as someone who has a child with a birthday between Christmas and New Year, and how hard it is to keep the day special and memorable as a birthday and not just part of the festive celebrations.

Our last event of the year is one of our chosen charities (we offer our services free of charge for these) and is a FREE to attend community event in Newsham, Blyth for 'Fresh Creative Aspirations'  who are a new mobile youth club provider.  It's on Sunday 22nd December at Newsham Pavilion, Blyth NE24 4DA

November 2024

After a busy summer the clocks have changed and it's getting colder.  As a year round face painter it's time to wrap up well and be prepared before heading out to events.

October saw me attending the International Face & Body Painting Convention weekend in Coventry.  Yes there really is one.  With over 250 face and body paint artists it's time to meet old friends from around the country, attend workshops and buy lots of pretty colours and sparkly glitter.  This event only happens every 2 years so is quite special and great fun.  On the Saturday evening there is a big fancy dress gala dinner and if you want to see people really go for it outfit wise this is the place to be!

We can't talk about October without mentioning the painters busiest time for scary faces - Halloween.  So many skulls and pumpkins, witches and zombies to be painted.  Developed a new face painting design I called 'dark ghost' this year which proved popular.  Being in this business we are always looking at new face designs and products and changing the our options up to keep it fresh and bring the customers the best quality service and face painting experience possible whether its for a kids party or a bespoke face painting client.

Christmas parties will being soon so I'm making sure we have enough red, green and gold face paint in stock for all our reindeer, Grinch and Christmas face designs.  A few places you can catch me for public events are as follows:

Saturday 16th November Morpeth Christmas Lights switch on event where our team will be offering FREE face painting Link

Sunday 24th November Dobbies Garden Centre Morpeth 11:30am for the arrival of Santa Link

Thursday 28th November Whitley Lodge Shopping Centre for the Christmas tree lights switch on

Hope to see you soon,

Love
